Pro-Life or Pro-Choice ?

             In her article "Abortion: Pro-Life or Pro-choice",  Amy Huynh talks about abortion. She makes an argument about abortion and the government's decision on this matter. According to her, the Supreme Court should shut down all laws against abortion because they are unconstitutional. She talked about why women usually abort their pregnancy and, she also gave us some negative impacts banning abortion can have.
Even though I'm against abortion, I agree with her when she says that when a state prohibit abortion, it implies that as soon as a woman becomes pregnant her body does not belong to her anymore; it belongs to the state. it means that women truly have no control and power over their own body. I'm agreeing with her because denying a woman her wish to have an abortion is depriving her of her freedom in a certain way. It is also taking away her right to choose what she want for her body but especially for her future.  Although Amy has valid points, her argument is not supported by any kind of facts. It makes her article look subjective and less credible.

All Lives Matter.

       Lately, the United States has seemed to be touch by a flow of violences by the police toward the population. The majority of the people affected by those violences are minorities such as the African American and Hispanic communities. As a result of these unjustified killings, a wave of protests and the creation of movements such as " I can't breath" or "black lives matter" have been shaking the United States; especially since July 2014.
On April 12, 2015, a 25 years old African American man named Freddie Gray was taken into custody by the Baltimore Police Department for supposedly possessing a switchblade. While being transported by the police, Gray fell into a coma and was taken to a trauma center where he died on April 19, 2015. According to the Washington Post, Grey died of multiple and severe injuries. The circumstances of the injuries were unclear at first; however, witnesses stated that the officers involved had operated with unnecessary use of force against Gray while arresting him (this claim was denied by an officer involved). A report supported by a medical investigation found that Gray sustained the injuries while in transport.
After Gray's funeral on April 27, the streets of Baltimore were invaded by protestors who were seeking truth and justices for this young man's murder or who were showing support to Gray's family. The arrest of some protestors by the police turned the demonstration into a confrontation between police forces and protestors. Later on, the protestation became a riot: the crowed gathered in front of the police station and pelted officers with rocks, plastic bottles, eggs, etc. Several patrol cars and store's fronts were smashed.
On May 1, the chief prosecutor for the city of Baltimore charged 5 of the 6 officers involved in the arrest of Freddie Gray with crime including illegal arrest, manslaughter and murder.
Police men and women represent the authority and they are supposed to inspire security among the population. What are we suppose to do if the people that are here to protect us are the very same people who terrify us and kill us? The behaviors of some officers show that the police system of the country is broken and some changes have to be made! Actions as the one taken by the city of Baltimore against the officers are really important because it sends a positive message to the people of this country.  Nobody is above the law, not even authorities figures. Every person that commit a crime must be punish regardless of his race, his culture or, his position in society.

Same Sex Marriage

   This article called "Is Banning Same Sex Marriage unconstitutional?" has been written by Amy Huynh on her blog "Good Ole' America". In this article she is talking about same sex marriage and specifically arguing about whether or not banning same sex marriage is unlawful. Indeed, she is defending same sex marriage by Stating that prohibiting those kind of unions are outlawed.
I agree with her point of view because I also believe that everyone should be free to be with whoever they feel comfortable with. Beside , she is supporting her argument with relevant facts such as the bill of rights and the declaration of independence. According to this article, banning same sex marriage violates the first amendment imposing the state religion and its view against individuals. She also made a good point by saying that the society has evolved for the better over the time, therefore making same sex marriage legal must follow.

The H.B 1125 Bill

         When it come to "same-sex marriage Questions," answers and reactions are really controversial. Those who are for same sex marriage usually believe that people must be free to love and have a relationship with whoever they want. They should be allowed to access civil union with their partner in order to obtain social and financial benefits marriage provides. On the other hand, others believe that marriage between people of same sex is against nature and therefore unbearable.
the solve that issue, numerous laws and bills have been passed in the United States over the years. Some seeks equality for everyone and support the LGBT movement while others promote inequality and discrimination toward the LGBT community.
Some laws and decisions made on marriage equality issues can sometimes be confusing and questionable. Weeks ago, Oklahoma state house passed a Republican backed bill (H.B 1125) aim to remove the government from issuing marriage license and preventing judge disapproving equality marriage from officiate same-sex marriage. This bill initially create to discriminate same-sex marriage was widely criticized. It was accused of being unconstitutional by favoring religiously-sanctioned marriages over other and certainly violated the establishment cause in the first amendment which demand that "congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion." Beside the critics revolving around it, this bill made by "anti-LGBT" may actually be beneficial for the LGBT community. According to Troy Stevenson (head of LGBT advocacy group in Oklahoma),  160 member of clergy have publicly declared their willingness to marry "LGBT people," and several major Christian denominations already allow clergy to officiate same-sex marriages.
The controversy and confusion revolving around this bill make it ineffective and, should therefore be dismiss. Indeed, the paper has a lot of flaws: it violates some establishment already existing in Oklahoma laws; it might removes state's ability to prevent bigamy or polygamy; and it also leave the question over whether or not any marriage performed under this system would still be recognized if people moved out-of-state.
Certainties provided by Troy Stevenson make the bill ineffective and meaningless. Stevenson even stated that one of the most anti-LGBT state legislators told him that he does not know if he is voting for or against the LGBT with this bill. The fact that oklahomans are confuse and still deciding if it is actually helping or hurting the LGBT community make the bill unreliable. The H.B 1125 bill should not be approved. It gives a confusing solution for a problem which do not even exist.

Weird Bill Intended To Block Marriage Equality In Oklahoma May Actually Backfire

      This article wrote by Jack Jenkins on Think Progress talks about a new bill passed in Oklahoma originally to hinder marriage equality. Last Wednesday, the Oklahoma state house passed a Republican-backed bill originally aim to remove government from the business of issuing marriage licenses by requiring clergy who officiate weddings to file “certificates of marriage” on their own, and preventing judges who disapprove of marriage equality from having to officiate same-sex weddings, which are legal in the state. However, in his article, Jenkins discuss that this bill made by "anti-LGBT" may actually be beneficial for the LGBT community. According to Troy Stevenson (head of the LGBT advocacy group in Oklahoma) 160 members of clergy have publicly declared their willingness to marry LGBT people” and. several major Christian denominations already allow clergy to officiate same-sex marriages. 

I believe Jack Jenkins when he says that the new bill may benefit the LGBT community instead of hinder same sex marriage.  According to information provide in the article, this new bill might actually change the way government interacts with the beginning of the marriage process. This change will make same sex marriage process easier because now judges are simply asked to file “marriage certificates.”

I feel like this article is aim to touch everyone but especially the people of Oklahoma. Even though marriage questions concern us all, this particular bill has been made for the people of Oklahoma only. 

I completely agree with the author point of view because he has a strong argumentation supported by facts and, reliable sources of information.  He also gives us a lot of details about that specific bill and what that bill implies. 

Can it really be beneficial ?

        In this article by CBSNEWS called "opinion: Medical Marijuana Benefits," the author talks about marijuana and some of its positive effects on people. Indeed, he is defending that marijuana should be legalized for medical purpose. He points out that therapeutic marijuana has been used over decades and it is very affective in cases such as appetite loss, nausea, vomiting, spasticity, glaucoma, pain, and weight loss…

I agree with what the author is saying because I find this article informative of the actual benefit of this plant. Most of the time, the media and the world depict marijuana as a harmful substance that cannot do any good. In this paper, the author make valid point and gives valuable raisons for why marijuana should be legalized. He references expert such as Mitch Earleywine and, he even inform us about safe ways to consume marijuana.

I feel like this article is aim to touch every generation, from teenagers to young adult to people of third age. Nobody is protected from sickness and, we all know someone suffering of appetite loss, weight loss or even pain. In a long term, chemical drugs is dangerous for our body and, marijuana could represent a more natural way to ill some disorders. However, legalize marijuana for medical purposes do not mean everyone will be free to use it as he or she see fit. 

Even thought I agree with the author point of view, I think he could have made his argumentation stronger by using more facts and by giving more details about the different research made about medical marijuana.

This article gives us a great amount of information about the government’s actions affecting all of us. We should all acknowledge theses facts in order to do something about it and try to get our privacy back.
